Message of Solidarity – CUPE Local 8125

Dear colleagues, allies, and friends,

The Air Transat Component wishes to express its full and unwavering solidarity with the WestJet Flight Attendants, represented by CUPE Local 8125, following the filing of a Notice of Dispute in the context of negotiating their first collective agreement with WestJet.

After more than seven months of sustained negotiations, it is deeply concerning that fundamental issues— directly impacting working conditions, job stability, and the recognition of the work performed—remain unresolved.

The reality is clear and echoes across our entire industry: the work of flight attendants continues to be undervalued and, too often, partially unpaid. The fact that dozens of hours of essential work—critical to safety and operations—are still not fully compensated is unacceptable. This reality can no longer be ignored or tolerated.

Turning to conciliation marks an important step. It reflects both your determination and your commitment to achieving meaningful progress at the bargaining table. It also speaks to a broader collective responsibility: to ensure that industry standards finally reflect the true nature and value of the work performed today.

Your fight extends far beyond your own bargaining table. It is part of a larger struggle for dignity, respect, and recognition for all workers in the aviation sector.

As colleagues who share many of the same realities, we want to state clearly: you are not alone. Air Transat members stand with you—fully, proudly, and in solidarity. We know these battles are difficult, but we also know they are necessary.

It is through solidarity, mobilization, and determination that we will advance our collective rights. And it is together that we will build a more just and sustainable future for those who ensure safety and service in our skies every day.

Please accept our unwavering support as you move forward into this next phase.

In solidarity
