Special Membership Meetings – Per Diem Letter of Understanding and 2025 Component Bylaw Amendments

The Air Transat Component Executive is pleased to advise the membership that, following several months of discussions with the Company, we have reached a proposed resolution regarding the annual review and application of per diem rates.

These discussions began during the winter of 2025 after concerns were raised regarding the timing of annual per diem adjustments and the need for additional destination categories within the collective agreement. Since that time, your Union has worked diligently with the Company to address these concerns and find a fair and practical solution. Through ongoing discussions and in the spirit of positive labour relations, we are pleased to present a proposal that provides greater clarity and consistency for future annual per diem adjustments while recognizing the differing costs associated with various destinations.

The proposed agreement includes revised per diem rates, the addition of new destination categories, and a Letter of Understanding (LOU) that will establish the process moving forward. Under the proposal, the 2026 adjustment would be implemented effective July 1, 2026, with future annual adjustments taking effect on May 1 of each year beginning in 2027.

As part of this proposal, two new destination categories would be added to the collective agreement:

• Africa

• Iceland and Nordic Countries

The Executive Board believes these additions better reflect the realities of operating in these destinations and provide a more equitable framework for future per diem reviews.

As this proposal involves monetary changes to the collective agreement and amendments to the existing per diem language, membership approval is required before the Union can execute the LOU. In accordance with the Component Bylaws, the proposal must therefore be presented to the membership and voted upon.

The Executive Board will be holding virtual Special Membership Meetings to review the proposal, answer questions, and provide members with the opportunity to discuss the matter prior to the vote.

In addition to the per diem proposal, the meetings will also include a presentation and discussion regarding the recommendations received from CUPE National concerning the 2025 Air Transat Component Bylaw Amendments.

The agenda for the Special Membership Meetings will therefore include:

  1. Proposed Per Diem Letter of Understanding and related collective agreement amendments;
  2. CUPE National recommendations regarding the 2025 Air Transat Component Bylaw Amendments.
