Here is the most recent update from your Division 9 committee.<\/p>\n

We know and understand that for many of you, the wait is unbearable. It has been 30 days since the announcement of the base closure and the entire committee has been working hard from day one. The committee has been following the procedure dictated by the labor code under Division 9, as we are Federal employees. The objectives of the committee are the following:<\/p>\n

\u2022 Relocation assistance<\/p>\n
\u2022 Severance amount<\/p>\n
\u2022 Early retirement packages<\/p>\n
\u2022 Helping commuters by allowing flexibility to ease the transition<\/p>\n
\u2022 Getting agreements with other carriers<\/p>\n
\u2022 Job reassignment and training within the organization<\/p>\n
\u2022 Job search\/career counselling support and financial advice<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n
On some aspects, we have been able to make progress, but we believe that there is still room for improvements. We know that from the outside, the wait is long. Questions are being raised on a daily basis about the outcome of the work being done by this committee. Questions about when are you going to know what you are entitled to and many more.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
It is important to us to let you know that your local team, as well as the Component Executive and CUPE are all working with the objective of getting the best conditions for all YVR members.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
Since the beginning of the process, we held more than 6 meetings either with the company or as a working group. We reviewed several arbitration cases ( Cathay Pacific and WS) and have been reviewing other airlines collective agreements to get the best tools and arguments for the work of the committee. We are now in the final stages of the Committee work. We have CUPE legal supporting us to make sure we are covering each and every angle.<\/p>\n

If you have questions and concerns, the entire team is there to help you. We understand that time is of importance and that major decisions are to be made. We know you need answers to make those decisions and we are committed to get those to you as soon as possible.<\/p>\n
