{"id":948,"date":"2023-02-01T13:35:23","date_gmt":"2023-02-01T18:35:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/atcomponent.com\/?p=948"},"modified":"2023-02-01T13:35:23","modified_gmt":"2023-02-01T18:35:23","slug":"a-message-from-your-component-executive","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/atcomponent.com\/en\/2023\/02\/01\/a-message-from-your-component-executive\/","title":{"rendered":"A message from your component executive"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>It is with a broken heart that we are writing to you today.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>January 18th will forever be remembered as one of the saddest days in Transat&#8217;s history.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Our Vancouver-based colleagues were informed this morning of the permanent closure of the YVR base as of June 30, 2023. 192 flight attendants are affected by this devastating announcement.<\/p>\n<p>Your Component Officers, Lisa, Martin and I were present to support the members of 4078 during this announcement.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>This news will have an unprecedented impact on the lives of many of our friends and colleagues and their families. Your component is standing in solidarity with the executive of Local 4078; Sheena, Linnea and Julie. All remain available to answer your questions.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Your union will be having important discussions with the company in the next few days on the support measures that will be offered to our YVR members.\u00a0<strong>Transat must be accountable and support YVR members in this difficult transition period. The YVR base has been in operation for over 28 years and our Vancouver members have given their hearts and souls to this organization for decades.
