{"id":39,"date":"2022-09-14T14:31:06","date_gmt":"2022-09-14T18:31:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/atcomponent.com\/?page_id=39"},"modified":"2026-05-22T23:44:21","modified_gmt":"2026-05-23T03:44:21","slug":"our-history","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/atcomponent.com\/en\/our-history\/","title":{"rendered":"Our History"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3><strong>34 Years Strong<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p data-start=\"169\" data-end=\"313\">For 34 years, our union has stood together to protect our rights, improve working conditions, and build a stronger future for flight attendants.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"315\" data-end=\"431\">What started in 1992 as a fight for fairness has led to major improvements that continue to benefit all of us today.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"433\" data-end=\"546\">Before unionization, there were no real limits on monthly flying hours or even on how long a duty day could last.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"548\" data-end=\"666\">Since then, six collective agreements have been negotiated \u2014 each bringing important gains for our members, including:<\/p>\n<ul data-start=\"668\" data-end=\"1300\">\n<li data-section-id=\"1sssseh\" data-start=\"668\" data-end=\"743\">Monthly flying blocks between 65 and 85 hours, with a maximum of 95 hours<\/li>\n<li data-section-id=\"1kp5qgw\" data-start=\"744\" data-end=\"770\">Guaranteed monthly hours<\/li>\n<li data-section-id=\"1lc61oy\" data-start=\"771\" data-end=\"856\">Reduced duty days, now capped at 14 scheduled hours with a 16-hour absolute maximum<\/li>\n<li data-section-id=\"15j5lax\" data-start=\"857\" data-end=\"966\">Major wage increases over the years, from approximately $17\/hour to over $74\/hour after 10 years of service<\/li>\n<li data-section-id=\"1dx28p5\" data-start=\"967\" data-end=\"1000\">Overtime premiums for duty time<\/li>\n<li data-section-id=\"1kp2lli\" data-start=\"1001\" data-end=\"1062\">16 weeks of preventive leave for pregnant flight attendants<\/li>\n<li data-section-id=\"1xgjm10\" data-start=\"1063\" data-end=\"1111\">Creation of the MSPP pension plan through CUPE<\/li>\n<li data-section-id=\"yt9f4s\" data-start=\"1112\" data-end=\"1172\">Reduced reserve periods from 24 hours to AM\/PM assignments<\/li>\n<li data-section-id=\"1k9wdg0\" data-start=\"1173\" data-end=\"1216\">Better hotel protections on long layovers<\/li>\n<li data-section-id=\"12vrq26\" data-start=\"1217\" data-end=\"1300\">Secured crew seats for flights over 7 hours or departures after 10 PM from Canada<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p data-start=\"1302\" data-end=\"1481\">More recently, we stood together to push back against major concessions proposed by the employer \u2014 including wage cuts, reduced crew complements, and rollbacks to key protections.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1483\" data-end=\"1570\">Because of the strength and solidarity of our members, those concessions were rejected.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1572\" data-end=\"1592\">Our work isn\u2019t done.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1594\" data-end=\"1629\"><strong>Together, we continue to fight for:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul data-start=\"1630\" data-end=\"1784\">\n<li data-section-id=\"114ep69\" data-start=\"1630\" data-end=\"1670\">Reduced fatigue and healthier pairings<\/li>\n<li data-section-id=\"19tz74y\" data-start=\"1671\" data-end=\"1715\">Better onboard and layover rest conditions<\/li>\n<li data-section-id=\"1emyzbc\" data-start=\"1716\" data-end=\"1741\">Stronger job protection<\/li>\n<li data-section-id=\"1ly15x3\" data-start=\"1742\" data-end=\"1784\">Safer, fairer working conditions for all<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p data-start=\"1786\" data-end=\"1878\" data-is-last-node=\"\" data-is-only-node=\"\">34 years later, one thing remains the same:<br data-start=\"1829\" data-end=\"1832\" \/><strong data-start=\"1832\" data-end=\"1878\" data-is-last-node=\"\">Our strength comes from standing together.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>34 Years Strong For 34 years, our union has stood together to protect our rights, improve working conditions, and build a stronger future for flight attendants.
